Snap an ugly selfie or a video, add a caption, and send it to a friend (or maybe a few). They&#8217;ll receive it, laugh, and then the snap disappears. The image might be a little grainy, and you may not look your best, but that&#8217;s the point. It&#8217;s about the moment, a connection between friends, and not just a pretty picture. Snapchat.com <i>Note from Impact: There is a bug in the new iOS7 operating system that will allow someone receiving a snapshot to take a screen shot and store it.\u00a0 We are sure the bug will be fixed soon, but be warned.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u00a0<\/i><b>Tor <\/b>&#8211; (from the Tor website) Tor is free software and an open network that helps you defend against a form of network surveillance that threatens personal freedom and privacy, confidential business activities and relationships, and state security known as traffic analysis. Tor protects you by bouncing your communications around a distributed network of relays run by volunteers all around the world: it prevents somebody watching your Internet connection from learning what sites you visit, and it prevents the sites you visit from learning your physical location. Tor works with many of your existing applications, including web browsers, instant messaging clients, remote login, and other applications based on the TCP protocol. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.torproject.org\/\">Torproject.org<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <i>From<\/i> <i>Impact: The copy comes off as a little paranoid (a little?), but in this day and age, paranoia is not such a bad thing.\u00a0 If you have any questions about using this, post them on our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ImpactMediaSolutions\">Facebook<\/a> page and we will do our best to answer them.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>Metal Detector<\/b> &#8211; <i>From Impact: Who is ready to go to the beach and find some hidden treasure&#8230;or all the change that fell out of sixteen tourists pockets yesterday?\u00a0 At first I thought this was going to be some cheap \u201ctrying to be funny but not really\u201d app.\u00a0 According to the 26,000 people who have rated this and gave it an average of 4.3 stars out of 5, there is the real deal.\u00a0 According to the app description page, here is how it works.<\/i>\u00a0 This app measures magnetic field values using the magnetic sensor that is built into the phone. The magnetic field level(EMF) in nature is about 49\u03bcT(microtesla) or 490mG(milligauss); 1\u03bcT = 10mG. If there is any metal in the area, the strength of the magnetic field should increase. Among other uses, it can be helpful in finding electrical wires in walls (like a stud finder) and metal in the ground.<\/p>\n<p><i>Now that you have seen it can be used as a stud finder, we are sure you are going to wear a belt and tell your wife to scan you.\u00a0 Our bet is that she is going to tell you, \u201cSomething must be wrong with it,\u201d.\u00a0 Ha!<\/i><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=kr.sira.metal\">https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=kr.sira.metal<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>DogSnap<\/b>: (From their app description) DogSnap is the second in a series of electronic field guides developed by scientists from Columbia University and the University of Maryland. This free mobile app uses visual recognition software to help identify a dog&#8217;s breed from a photograph of its face.\u00a0 Take a snap shot of the dog and the app will help you identify it.<\/p>\n<p><i>From Impact:\u00a0 We also think this makes a great app for the geek who has a hard time meeting members of the opposite sex.\u00a0 \u201cExcuse me, I have a new app I want to try out that is supposed to be able to use recognition software to tell me what kind of dog I am looking at.\u00a0 May I take a picture of your beautiful dog?\u201d We do not expect a wedding invitation when it works out, but a virtual high five on our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ImpactMediaSolutions\/\">Facebook<\/a> page would be nice.\u00a0 <\/i><a
